The console

Solar System

A console with a PC at its core. It boots straight into your games, plays most of what a PC can, and stays simple enough to pick up with a controller.

What it is

PC power, console simplicity

Solar System is a PC–console hybrid. It gives you most of what makes PC gaming great, including your Steam library, in a box that turns on straight into your games and is driven entirely with a controller.

It is deliberately not a cheap PC in disguise. It is open enough to play almost anything, and closed enough to stay a console: no desktop to manage, no drivers to chase, and updates that never touch your saves.

Inside Solar System

The software, the store and the rules behind them.

Infinity Solar Operating System

The operating system boots past a startup animation and lands straight on Home. There is no desktop in between.

  • The system runs from a protected copy that only the updater can change.
  • Settings › System › Software update checks for and installs updates.
  • Updates can carry one-time fixes that run once on every console.
  • Your accounts, saves, library and settings live apart from the system and are never touched by an update.

The Galactic Dashboard

Five tabs, all made for a controller:

  • Home: the game you played last, your games and quick launchers.
  • Library: everything you own, filtered by system.
  • Store: the Solar System Marketplace.
  • Infinity: Presence, VOID and KYS.
  • Settings: appearance, accounts, startup and the system.

The default look is a clean, modern cosmic theme with a moving background and your choice of highlight colour. An on-screen keyboard opens whenever a controller selects a text box.

Solar System Marketplace

The Store sells Solar System games and gives away free classics. Purchases belong to your account, with a purchase history in Settings › Accounts. Games are listed from most to least expensive, and paid games are charged plus sales tax. THUNDER: Burst Infinite and Hollowmere Online come free with the console, and Hollowmere and Hollowmere Online are sold together. The store runs in developer mode today, so nothing can be bought yet.

Buy it once. Keep it on PC.

Infinity's big games launch as Solar System Exclusives. They play only on Solar System for roughly 6 to 12 months, then come to PC.

Anything you bought on Solar System unlocks on PC too: the game, its DLC, cosmetics and everything tied to it. Infinity games come to Solar System and PC only. They never release on other consoles.

Steam, apps and classics

Steam is on the Store's Apps shelf. It installs the official Steam app and opens it in its controller mode. You sign in with your own Steam account and buy games through Steam's own checkout, so every dollar goes to Steam and Infinity takes nothing. Installed Steam games appear in your Library and launch straight in.

Apps: YouTube and X are free, and so is Twitch, which holds the spot until KYS arrives on the console. Sign-ins are saved.

Free classics: Solar System plays emulated classics, starting with free homebrew games licensed for anyone to share: Thwaite, Concentration Room, Libbet and the Magic Floor, and µCity.

Accounts

Each person on the console gets a profile, and Solar System remembers who played last. Profiles are local to the console for now. Sign-in with your Infinity account, the same one you use for Presence, VOID and KYS, is on the way.
